Acquisition Criteria
Van Allen Group acquires established, profitable businesses with durable competitive advantages. We are not turnaround investors — we seek companies already performing well that will benefit from permanent, patient ownership.
Every acquisition we consider is evaluated against a consistent set of principles developed over years of ownership experience. We move deliberately, ask hard questions, and only proceed when we are confident we can be the right long-term steward for a business and its people.
We target businesses with a minimum of three to five years of consistent operating history. Proven performance across economic cycles is a prerequisite, not a preference.
Target companies generate reliable, recurring cash flow with EBITDA margins that reflect genuine operational efficiency — not financial engineering or one-time events.
We look for businesses with meaningful competitive moats — loyal customer bases, proprietary processes, geographic advantages, or brand equity that is difficult to replicate.
We acquire businesses with capable management in place or with a clear, executable transition plan. We are operators, not absentee owners — and we build teams that last.
Our focus spans service businesses, light manufacturing, specialty retail, commercial real estate, and media. We invest where we have operational insight and genuine conviction.
We work best with owners who care about legacy — who want their business to continue, their employees to be protected, and their life's work to be honored. We are not the right buyer for every deal.
Target Parameters
What We Do Not Pursue
Distressed or turnaround situations requiring significant capital infusion
Businesses dependent on a single customer or contract for the majority of revenue
Highly cyclical industries with no recurring revenue base
Transactions requiring rapid exit or financial engineering
Businesses where the owner's departure would cause immediate operational collapse
If your business aligns with our criteria and you are considering a transition, we would welcome a confidential discussion. No pressure. No intermediaries required.
